Fear and Loathing In The Diaper Pail

I like to think of myself as the sort of parent who encourages her child’s creativity. I buy the crayons, the markers, the tempera paints. We have Play-Doh and an easel and a box full of collage-making materials. Sidewalk chalk is always at the ready on our front and back porches. Preschool projects are proudly displayed. But despite my best efforts to bring out Liam’s inner Picasso, art supplies are usually met with indifference. At best there will be a quick swipe of the paintbrush and then a lengthy tasting session. So you can imagine my mixed emotions when he got ahold of my navy blue eyeliner and did this:
