But last night we went to "Literacy Night" at his school and we read a book called "The Little Old Lady Who Wasn't Afraid Of Anything" which is about a little old lady who gets chased home by disembodied clothes and a jack-o-lantern, which she eventually puts to work as a scarecrow. Walking out to the parking lot, Liam announces, "I'm not afraid of ANYTHING! ... Except the dark." Not yet. Worked like a charm. We would also give him a kiss on the palm of his hand so he could apply it to his cheek if he needed a kiss in the middle of the night. When Grace was little she had "monster problems" also, but Em fixed the situation by making a label which said "MONSTER REPELLENT" for a bottle of rather loud cologne someone had given her. She would make a big production of squirting some around the closet doors and under the bed and behind the drapes every night before bedtime and telling Grace that as long as she could smell it, it was still working. I bet the people that own that house now wonder why it smells like an old French whore in that bedroom. . .
